Green Policy

Home Green Policy

In terms of CNC Products’ Green Policy, we are committed to reducing and maximizing the impact of our business activities on the environment.

We are particularly focused on reducing energy, water consumption and waste.

  1. As a first step, and in terms of what we are currently doing to reduce our carbon footprint, we have already introduced a recycling initiative for the last 3 years. We recycle paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and tin. We are planning to introduce a tally of what we recycle.
  2. In terms of our long-term plan, but also something that is currently underway, we have already taken steps to have our water and carbon footprint measured in an attempt  to better understand, quantify and manage the emissions, water consumption and waste generation associated with our business activities. This would serve as a baseline assessment so that we can better understand the impact of our company on the environment and identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, increase energy efficiency and reduce water consumption and waste. We have already been consulting with a carbon footprint auditing company and are using suppliers wherever possible that have carbon footprint/greening audits in process.  We are assessing about what procedures our company needs to implement so that we can reliably, regularly and accurately collect all the data we need (for example fuel usage, water usage, electricity consumption, waste).
  3. Once this initial assessment is complete, we will be able to set targets. These might relate to energy and water consumption. For example, we plan to reduce energy and water consumption by a certain date relative to the base year assessment. We see our target as being on an on-going basis – no deadline set yet as it is a work in progress. We are not able to set these targets yet as the initial assessment has not been completed. Targets will be set in terms of when the initial assessment will be completed by, when we want to have identified reduction opportunities, and when we want to have specified our reduction opportunities.

Our current steps to reduce emissions:

1. Reducing electricity consumption:

Utilize power management on PCs and switch off when not in use

When upgrading office equipment, buy more energy efficient models;

Service equipment regularly – specifically refrigeration and air conditioning equipment

Ensure lights are switched off when rooms are not in use

Upgrade lighting (buying CFLs, installing motion sensors)

2. Use of green energy

3. Reducing fuel consumption:

Consolidate trips to suppliers and customers who are in the same areas in order to minimize   the number of trips

4. Packaging:

Use recycled or recyclable packaging whenever possible (financially not very viable currently)

5. Cleaning:

Use cleaning products with minimal environmental impact

6. Communication:

Use non paper-based modes of communication as far as possible

(for example keep posters and flyers to a minimum)

We also communicate a broader ethos of promoting sustainability and ethical business practices.

For example, supporting sustainable practices in all aspects of our food sourcing; this might include sourcing free range animal products, excluding at risk fish species, using Fairtrade products when possible and substituting when possible for organic products.

Furthermore, asking that your suppliers use as little packaging as possible.
